How to Reformat Windows Xp ( Easy Tutorial )



ReFormatting Tutorial for computers running on Windows XP


In this tutorial, I will explain how to format your hard drive on your PC with your Windows XP CD.
You will learn some basic computer knowledge on formatting computers and you will not ever need to pay for reformatting.
Things Needed 
  • Windows XP Installation Disc
  • A Computer to Format
  • A External Storage for Backup "Optional"
  • (USB Drive, Hard Drive ETC)
Before you do anything, Make sure you have already backed up all your important files,
Check if you backed up your Pictures , Musics and videos in your My Documents folder before doing anything.

Step by step Instructions

For Full Performance and Stability , and a Computer free of Virus, Malware and Spyware.
It is highly recommended to do a Clean installation in a Clean partition/HardDrive.
As you read this tutorial, it will teach you how to format your partition.

  • Backup your computer

  •  Insert your Windows XP Installation Disc into your CD/DVD drive to get started.


  • Shutdown you computer 


  • BIOS MODE

To access bios mode, You need to press a specific key during the boot-up.
Computers that are built during the last few years allow you to access bios mode with these buttons during startup. F1, F2, DEL, ESC, F10
Heres an example of a " F2 = Setup "  that appeared at the top right corner of a Dell computer boot screen.  It is usually a text located on the Corners of the screen. Note : this is not the Windows boot screen this is the Boot Screen of the system normally appearing before the windows boot screen.

  • Change boot sequence in bios

This is the bios screen , Its different kind of bios but they are mostly the same.

Find the screen that allows you to change the boot sequence. 
And Set it to boot from the CD Drive before the hard drive. 

Save changes and Reboot , continue to the next step.

  • Booting from CD

Once you see this screen, simply press a key to continue booting from CD




  • System Load

After that your computer will show a blue screen and the windows installer will take a few minutes to copy the necessary files for it to start. Wait for a few minutes.
Once finished proceed to the next step.


  • Accept Licence agreements

After the load had finished you will be shown to a the windows usage agreement page. Hit F8 To agree

  • Begin Setup

After agreeing you will be shown to a welcome page, 
Hit Enter and you will be shown to this screen. If you already have windows xp installed, it will tell you to repair you windows XP. For a clean format, Press ESC. Proceed to next step



  • Partition Manager

Now you will see the partition manager, Select you C Partition and Press D to delete. 
On the next page , press the L key to confirm deleting the partition. 
After deleting, you will be taken back to the Partition Managing page where you will see "Unpartitioned space". Kindly hit C to Create a new partition.
After that hit enter on the created partition.

  • Format the Hard Disk

You will now see a screen to format the Hard Disk. Select the first option, it is a Quick and Recommended option.

  • Install Windows XP

This is the easiest step! But it will take a while
Just wait for it to Reboot, 
From here, installation of Windows will proceed. 
The computer will reboot more than 2 times and will continue installing.
Just follow the on screen instruction during the setup
CAUTION : DO NOT REMOVE WINDOWS XP CD WHILE INSTALLING.
